From your ideas to a considered garden design

The process begins with an initial phone consultation, where we will discuss your wishlist, how you would like to use the garden, the scope of the project, your available budget and the different stages of the design process.

Following our conversation, I will prepare a tailored fee proposal for your project.

​

Once the design is underway, I develop a detailed concept for the entire garden, considering the relationship between the house and garden, circulation, proportions, levels, planting, materials and the practical use of each space.

​

The concept is presented as a 2D colour plan, allowing you to see the overall layout and how the different areas of the garden connect.

Where necessary, site elevations and detailed drawings are also provided to illustrate changes in levels and important elements of the design. These can show features such as retaining walls, steps, trees, planting, garden furniture and people, helping to communicate the scale, proportions and character of the proposed garden.

Two revisions of the concept are included in the design process, giving you the opportunity to refine the proposal and ensure the final design reflects your vision.

The 2D concept is supported by a comprehensive set of detailed, fully dimensioned plans and specifications, providing all the practical information required to take the design forward.

• Measuring Plans

• Detailed Hard Landscaping / Working Plan

• Site Elevations, where required

• Lighting Plan

• Detailed Planting Plan

• Plant Schedule, including plant names and quantities

• Recommended Materials List

• Bill of Quantities, including hard landscaping materials

 

The drawings provide detailed information on the dimensions, quantities and specifications required for the project, including elements such as paving, edging, retaining walls, steps, top-dressings and other landscaping materials.​

The aim is to give you a complete and practical garden design, combining the creative concept with all the detailed information needed to implement it.

The 2D plans clearly communicate the layout, dimensions, levels, materials, planting and individual garden features, providing you and your chosen landscaper with a detailed reference throughout the construction and planting stages.

The 2D design service is offered at a lower fee than the 3D design service, as the concept is developed and presented through detailed plans and elevations rather than 3D visualisations. It is an excellent option for clients looking for a comprehensive garden design at a more accessible fee.
